![]() He ordered a standard bloody mary because those ginormous things were insanely huge (and looked to be mostly ice). Even putting his runny fried egg on it didn't help them. The hash browns are no such thing - they're more like crumbled up potato chips. I had to ask for butter for my muffin, as did my husband for his toast. Even two more would've made me rave a bit more about. The grits were amazing - like the best I've had, but they really skimp on the shrimp and only have two small ones. I got my food almost immediately, which was a bit off-putting but ok. Even though there were about 20 of us, most of us got our orders very quickly. ![]() My husband ordered a standard breakfast with eggs, hash browns. I ordered some a la carte food: An English muffin and the shrimp and grits. The service was fine even with our one overworked waitress. I'm going to go back in the future, and I will update my review when I do.Ĭame in for Sunday brunch with a large group. It's also a great option for some vegan dishes as well. I would say this.based on it's location, Anvil Pub is a great choice for drinks and a bite if you're headed that way to go to a concert or something. I honestly could have done it myself.but it wasn't bad or anything. They were basically sauteed zucchini and squash chunks with some avocado and meatless crumbles on corn tortillas. I ordered the vegan tacos and a mimosa (it was still close to brunch time). The main reason that I came here was because I read that they have a lot of vegan options. NBA and racing happened to be on a couple of them at the time. A couple of monitors dot the walls above the bar and on the walls. ![]() They have a huge bar with plenty of seating. Inside, it's pretty dark unless you get a place by the windows. The weather was nice, and they do have some limited outdoor seating, but unfortunately it was all taken. Their drink list is pretty extensive (hopefully so, it's a pub) so you should be able to find your beverage of choice. Anvil Pub is close to a lot of great music spots (Dada, Trees, etc.) so it's definitely a great option for a few drinks before and after a show. I'm in or around DE a lot, and while there are already tons of great places to eat.there's always room for another spot, especially one with vegan options. We will be back, and hope for a closer parking place.Excellent find for me in Deep Ellum. She sat down at our table 3 times, which my wife and I really liked. Emily was our server, and was great, very laid back, very friendly. ![]() ![]() Whatever they called it, it came in a bowl was big and caused me to have to increase my workout time today. We finished with the brownie and ice cream sundae, which they called something else. We also got a side of mushrooms which we enjoyed. Carrots were very good and the fish was mild and went well with the lemon they served it with as well as the malt vinegar. I got the Fish and chips with he carrots instead of the fries. Chicken quesadilla was good with the tortilla on one side cooked until crisp - some may like it soft, but I liked it this way. Ceasar salad with chicken had crispy croutons and and plenty of chicken breast. The pita was warm, toasted and cut into strips. We had the hummus which was spicy, but excellent. Good news was despite the beers being pricey, the food was a good deal AND we thought was very good. Bad news was we parked a bit down the street and felt somewhat uncomfortable walking down the block, being asked for money by a hopefully harmless man. I have also posted this on Yelp: My wife and I went to the Anvil last night for the first time. ![]()
